Maria's Guide To Studying Like a Pro 📖

Good Morning! I have been in a little slump but I am back...

Finals are coming up in about a week and a half and I am so not ready. But thankfully on Wednesday I was up for about 3 hours studying for my biology test and somehow, I learned everything that I needed in just one night. So now I have a little list of tips on how to study either last minute or a week before, without the hassle of sobbing because you don't understand half of the things... (that may have happened to me)

Maria's Guide To Studying Like a Pro

Step 1. Get Cozy

Pick a good place around your house. Whether it is your living room, your own room, or any other space. To concentrate well you need to find a spot that you feel comfortable and aren't distracted. For me it was either the desk in my room or the floor. I ended up studying more with my desk so, I would also find a good place that is sturdy enough for your stuff.

Step 2. Get In The Mood

If you dread studying this will be a little bit challenging but trust me it is so helpful. To actually take the time to study you need to have The Studying Mindset. Which means you need to hype yourself up in some way. Here are some ways:

1. For my Gilmore Girl fans, you can get into character by telling yourself that you are Rory Gilmore and you are studying for a test or you are in Gilmore Girls. Yes, this might sound silly but for me it works because it motivates me more.

2. Trick yourself in being excited to study. My mom always told me this for my auditions. She said to keep repeating to myself that I was more excited than nervous. And it helped me so much. This can also help with studying. Get excited to study because the end result to it will make yourself happy and proud.

Step 3. Set Up Your Space

This step is kind of optional depending on how far you want to go with it. But if you can do this and you do have time for this then I would definetely go for it. Setting up your space will help you study more efficient. That could mean getting out all of your stuff for the subject you are studying for. Like your study guide, old assignments, your textbook, etc. Organize them in order of what you will use first. Another thing to add to your space is extra blank papers. If you are doing math you can use these extra papers to help you do the same problem with more space (I used these papers to draw my bio diagram a billion times). The last two things that is optional is making yourself a snack like a bowl of fruits or a bowl of chips! And setting up some peaceful music. Just look up on spotify or apple music or just youtube Study Music.

Step 4. Go Through What You Struggle First

Back then when I would study I would also go over the topics I knew really well, which wasn't the best idea because then I would put all my energy on the things I didn't really need to go over, which led to me never actually studying. So, go through and see what you struggle in the most and review that multiple times. Over and over and over again. You can watch explanation videos to help you. You can look up example problems to help you. You can review notes to help you too.

Step 5. Act Like You Are The Teacher

THIS. THIS WILL HELP YOU. When going over your nots you want to say them out loud as if you are the teacher explaining. This also helps when you are going through example problems or filling out your studying guide. On each problem explain what you are doing or what the answer is. This will help you to better understand what is going on. Do this with everything that you do while studying. Explain bit by bit and it will help you. TRUST ME. It helped me so much!

Step 6. Rest, Rest, Rest

After working for about two hours and a half I would say to take a mini break and then go to bed. Or after you are done studying. But I recommend only studying for a max of 3 hours and a half cause after that long you will be too tired to pay attention.

In the morning I would go over some of the topics while you are getting ready (Teaching style).

And by then I just know you will be redy for your test!

Okok I think these are all the tips I have for you guys. I personally hate studying but after developing these tips it has helped me so much. I haven't just been enjoying studying but I have finally found a way for it to actually help me. I hope these help you too! I love you guys all so much and don't forget to share this post with someone who needs help studying!!!

Bye Bye

Have fun studying, DM and tell me how it goes!

XoXo, Maria E.V
