HI! A few weeks ago my mom and I took our old clothes and I mean really old clothes to the nearest thrift store. We walked in and soon enough we realized our clothes were never going to be taken in. We gave the lady our huge white trash bags filled with our clothes that could possibly be named vintage and roamed around the store while we waited. Honestly I was pretty excited to see how much we would get because the people before us were getting amounts like 50, 60 even 75 dollars! Soon our name got called and the lady handed us our white bags and she didn’t even say a single word and we knew our clothes were too old and too used.
That was my very first encounter with a thrift store but just a few days ago I headed my way to 5 thrift stores with my friend (shoutout to Olivia)! Honestly there were many good clothes in both the stores.
1st day:
The first store I didn’t really see any clothing that attracted me in style but there were cute accessories and glasses. As I walked around the glasses section I noticed these bright green sunglasses and thought to myself “Why are there green sunglasses who would even wear these?” The answer is me. I unexpectedly fell in love with the green sunglasses so I bought them!
During our trip to the second store we had very interesting interactions with the workers. The first thing my friend and I noticed were these cute little white Mcdonalds bears. The thing that surprised us was how clean they looked and since there were two we decided to buy them both to be matching. Can we just take a moment of silence to take in how much the ladies wanted for those bears. 30 dollars. Her face as she came out from the rooms behind the counter all fearful saying that on ebay they were selling them for $75 EACH. My friend and I looked at each other in complete disbelief and walked away as quickly as possible. I also found the most Priscilla coded dress I had ever seen in my life. It was pink with sage green and white stripes, the chest area was this beautiful halter. I knew I needed that dress but once I found out the price…I didn’t need the dress as much anymore. That store I walked out empty handed and very surprised at the pricing of the white bears. As soon as my friend and I got inside the car we went to business to find how much the bears really cost. $9. Yup, I said it. We looked on Ebay and they were only $9 dollars and not only that they were that price for both of the bears together. We also found one where the person was selling just one for $75 and I laughed and thought “The lady must have looked for the most expensive one and chose that one”. At the end of our shopping experience we stopped by for ice cream and decided to go home and play some Dress to Impress (SPOILER: I won like every time, maybe cause my friend kept giving 5 stars). (By the way on that dress to impress the theme was Hunger Games)
2nd day: Look thrifting for just one day is not enough. When Olivia texted me saying there was gonna be a sale you know I was all in for that. So I got ready and went to eat breakfast with her and her mom. Literally the funniest people to be around with. Although my stomach was full of chocolate pancakes I was ready to take on thrifting. I got to the store and realized how huge the store was. We roamed around and found funny shirts, ugly shirts, cute shirts, interesting shirts, all kinds of shirts. I took about 3 shirts to try on. 1. Funny one 2. A cute pink and white sweater 3. A really nice tube top. But I ended up not liking any of them except the funny one that looked like a twisters game top. The pink sweater wasn’t bad but I honestly didn’t see myself wearing it as often. The tub top…well it ended up being a romper. As I couldn't find clothes my friend and I decided to look at the bric-a bracs (AKA random stuff). Everything was very random. Pads, microscopes, and more. Eventually we left and decided to go to one more store. This one was a little more familiar to me since I always drove past it after my singing classes. Inside it was a cute store, everything was organized well and there were really cute things. I instantly went to the bag area and found two cute bags but knew I didn’t need more bags. My friend roamed around and found the cutest tops and skirts, but the best part about this store was the clutch that my friend's mom found. It was beautifully crafted. It was big and had magazine covers all over it, definitely a huge steal. Sadly, I walked out empty handed as I didn’t find anything that struck me the way the green glasses did, but I am so glad that my friend bought the clutch cause it was made for her!
Overall I have fallen in love with thrift stores because you find so many random things that can be weird but oddly you still end up liking them. If you guys are looking to go out definitely go out and go thrifting!
I love you guys all so much and stay tuned for the next blog post!
Bye Bye
