Mountains, Mountains, Mountains⛰️

Bonjour! Wow, I am writing again and it has only been a few days since my last post! My spring break has sadly ended and I am off to school again tomorrow. Not only am I going back to school but I am going back with a warm welcome of Tech Week. Ah to my lovely musical people we all know the torture, pain, yet weirdly satisfying feeling of tech week. If you don’t know what it is don’t worry I will explain it. Tech week takes place a week before the grand opening of a musical and it means having rehearsals every day until 9:30pm. Of course it is amazing to finally see the whole show being constructed since lights are finally being set up and costumes as well. It is also pretty nice that we get to eat food. Well duh I am glad we eat food or else we would not survive. Anyways the last blog post was me yapping about my party and now today I will be yapping about my trip to UTAH!

I am always down to try new things and woah this was definitely something new. At first when I thought about spring break all I could picture was tan lines, beach waves, cute nails, dressing like a whore, etc. All the pre-summer things. But no, spring break can also look like five layers of clothes, freezing cold hands, and a runny nose. Yes, my spring break looked like the second one, but the pro part about this was how fun the experience was. Maybe I didn’t go to the beach everyday but I did look at very humongous mountains that made me feel like I was going to fall off every five seconds. It is so funny how some Californians go to cold places during break while people who live in cold places would rather go to hot (I know this from experience of living in both places).

My trip started out in the car, how exciting am I right? During the car ride I was obviously trying to look out at the beautiful views while frantically trying to write my last blog post, I think I have mastered the task of multitasking! The car ride wasn’t as long as I thought it was going to be, I guess it was just the family we were with that was making a lot of stops but we didn’t mind at all. I was just really desperate to finally start hiking. It wasn’t until the next day that we actually started hiking since we got to our Airbnb around 3-4ish that day. We did stop at the grocery store and went out to eat at this really skeptical mexican food place, or maybe it wasn’t skeptical we were just talking about food poisoning which made me lose my appetite. The Airbnb that we stayed at was really nice! It had three bedrooms but the one I stayed in had two three level bunk beds! My friends and I switched around the beds we slept in because we wanted to find the right one.

By the next day we were hiking by the snowy mountains! At first we would only make quick stops with our car in a different spot of the mountain but if you really think about it in each stop we made we kept getting closer to the top. By the top of the mountain that is when our 2 and a half hour hike came in. We prepared ourselves by adding another layer of clothes! I had leggings underneath my cargo pants with a beige shirt that no one could tell I was wearing because of the three jackets I had on.

The hike at first was a little bit scary since some parts were muddy because of the snow and rain but once we started getting comfortable with each step we took it wasn’t as scary anymore. The mountains were absolutely jaw dropping, they all had their own unique taste to them. Some were oval while others had caves in them. The cool part was that not only did we see the distinctive red rocks we also saw them covered in white snow! Even if my hands were turning a bit purple because of the cold it didn’t really matter because it was worth it.

Day two was supposedly our rest day but knowing my own mother, it wasn’t. We did wake up around 11 and left the house at 12 to go see some more mountains that were around the corner of the house. I think this part was my second favorite hike because the mountains were easier to climb up and down and there were varieties of different ones, some were higher than others.

After the climbing we went to Culvers! Oh my god I haven’t had Culvers ice cream since I moved to California (because it doesn’t exist there)But my mom and I talked about it after and said that maybe our taste buds changed because the ice cream wasn’t as good as we remembered but ice cream is ice cream and it will always taste good no matter what.

On day 3 we went to Zion! This one was my 2nd favorite even if all of them were my favorite. This one was way more for tourists which made lines to get in really long. We were planning on doing the river hike but we ended up not going since the level of it that day was Athletic which meant the current was strong and there was more water than usual. So we skipped it and only did the side river walk which was just a short walk next to the river..which took us like 3 hours for some reason. The best part of Zion was taking the Emerald hike! This hike took around 2 or 3 hours but it was so worth it. We were walking on the side of the mountain and we would go up and down and into these gorgeous waterfalls. It was funny how the way to the end took longer than the way back because we didn’t take as many stops for pictures (it took us 2 hours to go to the end and 30 minutes to go back)

After this hike I was exhausted, I fell asleep in the car and when I got home I was even too exhausted to take a shower, so I just sprayed some perfume on myself and went straight to my pj’s.

The next day was the day we left! We packed our things and headed to Las Vegas for our one night stay. When we got to Las Vegas not only did I get a good blog post idea that is in the works right now but we went to see the David Copperfield show and my god did that mess with my head. The whole time my mind tried ruining the magic for me as I would scan the whole theater to see where these tricks were coming from. Some were obvious while others like the floating car weren't. Something in Las Vegas kicked inside of me because the rest of the night I was acting like a child. But that ended soon since my parents decided to go back to the hotel before we encountered strange people since it was getting late.

We only stayed in Las Vegas for one day and the next day we went on another hike. Red Rock Canyon. In this one we only took one hike that was about 4 hours long or maybe it was eternal because of how long it took us. This one was a bit trickier since there were a lot of rocks and not so many trails to take. So we basically climbed rocks for four hours straight.

But the view at the end was spectacular, you could see the Strip from there and you could see a full view of the different colored mountains.

Finally we went straight home after that hike because we were all super exhausted after. Maybe this was a very different Spring Break but it was really fun trying something new especially since I fell in love with it too. I think part of life is to try new things because there is so much out there in this world that people don’t know about until they try it! Okay my lovelies, thank you all for reading my blog post. I hope you enjoyed it! I promise that the next blog post won’t be me yapping about my life! A little hint is that it has to do with makeup!

Bye Bye

XoXo, Maria E.V
